Coming up on April 6, 2018 is Upper St. Clair High School’s MiniTHON! MiniTHON is a student run fundraiser for childhood cancer research. The event is based on Penn State’s THON. There will be time for the community to come to the high school to play games and buy food. After, the high schoolers can stay for a school “lock-in” for 12 hours full of dancing, food, games, and much more! Last year we were able to raise over $17,000! Spread the word and help us reach our goal of $30,000!
On November 22nd the students helping with MiniTHON had a very successful volleyball tournament! There were 52 teams, which was about 350 participants, and raised over $3,400! There are always ways to help fund mini THON. Currently, there is a Snow-Staff competition going on at the high school. Students pay for tickets in order to vote for which teacher they want to see dressed up in an inflatable snowman costume. This competition will run until December 21st. Tell your high school kids to come to the cafeteria during lunch mods to purchase tickets to raise money for this amazing cause.
MiniTHON has some great events coming up soon! On December 15th the students who are planning MiniTHON are going holiday caroling. The next major fundraiser will take place on December 22nd at the high school. All the high school students will be participating in a lip dub. What exactly is a lip dub? A lipdub is a fun music video with people lip syncing to a mash-up of songs. Leaders of 25 clubs and sports will be featured singers. They will lip sync through the hallways, which will be lined with enthusiastic students! This is going to be a major promotion for MiniTHON, so keep your eyes peeled for the video!
